Waiting is Not an Option
The collective primitive ego-consciousness of humanity has created the fragile and dangerous civil, social, and economic structures that now threaten the future of human civilization. The collapse of those structures are all but certain in the future, and the creation of self-reliant local communities and local economies is the best option for the viable long-term survival of our younger generations.
The world is changing in significant ways. The future isn’t what it used to be. Life-altering changes are coming to our world. What will it mean to live the “good life” in the world that is coming? The “good life” will require all of us to focus on simplicity, sustainability, and developing clarity on what is really important in our lives: health, clean water, warmth, food, safety, community, acceptance, belonging, love, and embracing a deep sense of purpose, meaning, and wellbeing. What is truly important to us as we work to create the sustainable new world we need? These questions will require all of us to think carefully about what we need to let go of, and even more importantly what we need to keep.
We Need Self-reliant Communities Now
“Waiting Is Not An Option: The Transition from Unlimited Growth to Long Term Survival” illustrates clearly the dangerous threats to social, economic, and civil collapse that humanity’s immature primitive ego consciousness has unknowingly created.
The author takes the reader through humanity’s unconscious, unevolved, and immature primitive ego thinking; a thinking process created by the human ego’s early childhood conditioning. It describes the dangerous thinking unconsciously embedded in the immature and unevolved collective human consciousness and how it can be tamed and matured.
The author then discusses how this primitive ego thinking has created the fragile social and economic systems that now have us dangerously teetering on the cliff toward social, economic, and civil collapse. It describes each of the unstable social and economic structures, including neoliberal global capitalism, that threatens human civilization’s future.
The primary focus of the book is the urgent need to begin “now” creating a self-reliant local community and local economy for the survival of human civilization, and more importantly the reader’s long-term survival. It explains the preparations required to develop a self-reliant, self-sufficient local community, including the skills, resources, and community support, that will be needed to move from economic growth and profit to community cooperation and well-being.
